Helen Buie (born Feb. 29, 1980 in Toronto, Ontario) is a doctorate student working with Dr. Steven Boyd and is best known for her work on micro-computed tomography bone segmentation analysis methods and characterization of post-pubertal bone development.  Helen began her research career at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where she earned a bachelor of science and Masters in Mechanical Engineering.  It was at Queen’s while working with Dr. Keith Pilkey that Helen first became interest in bone research, and this interest would eventually lead her to pursue another degree in this area at the University of Calgary.  Helen currently resides in Calgary, Alberta, with her husband Sean Osis.  Aside from her interest in bone research, Helen enjoys playing ice hockey, skiing, photography, cooking and baking.
