Laura was born in Vancouver, BC and has a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry.  She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia.  While at UBC, she worked in Professor Vivien Measday’s lab, which focuses on chromosome segregation.  She is a graduate student in Biomedical Engineering with Professor Hasan Uludag’s lab at the University of Alberta, and is using gene delivery to modify cells such that they produce growth factors in order to enhance bone formation.  She currently holds a Skeletal Regenerative Medicine Trainee Award, and previously received two NSERC-USRAs at UBC.  When she is not working, Laura enjoys running, swimming, cross-country skiing and bagpiping.
