PhD Candidate
Email: mmhunt@ucalgary.ca
Born and raised in Calgary, Megan’s first love has always been music. She received her Associate to the Royal Conservatory of Toronto (ARCT) in Performance Piano in 1999, the same year she graduated from high school. As a change and a challenge, Megan entered into the engineering program at the University of Calgary. In 2004, she completed her BSc in Civil Engineering (with a minor in structural engineering) at the top of her class receiving the APEGGA gold medal. After graduating, Megan worked as a structural engineering consultant in Calgary and then Winnipeg on projects located across six provinces. After moving back to Calgary in 2007, Megan entered into an MSc program in Biomedical Engineering after being awarded an Alexander Graham Bell scholarship. Her research interests involve the large scale culture of human embryonic stem cells as well as human induced pluripotent stem cells for use in tissue engineering applications. Recently awarded a PGS-D from NSERC, Megan has transferred directly into a PhD program. In her spare time Megan still enjoys learning new piano pieces as well as helping her husband with their endless home renovation projects.
